Two things, Quinlivan isn't a councillor. SF. has no elected representatives in Limerick.

Secondly, I think this is fair comment. Quinlivan's brother was an IRA man who was freed under the Belfast Agreement and a SF TD has gone on the public record calling armed robbery as "fund raising".

Sue away I say, the only one who's reputation will be damaged is Quinlivan.

I'm no lawyer, but not a hope. It's not even close to libel - if it was 99% of the posters here would be guilty of libel.

He can't sue. The statement has to be untrue, lower you in the eyes of right thinking people, and be conveyed to a third party. The brothel did exist and Willie didn't say that Quinlivin was running it.

I hope he sues. It would transfer some Northern Bank money to the hands of barristers in the form of fees.

Quinlivan seems to have failed at the first hurdle in his defamation case against O'Dea with the judge refusing to grant him an injunction against O'Dea stopping him from repeating comments he made to the Limerick Leader linking him to a brothel which had operated from an apartment owned by his brother, Nessan Quinlivan. The judge said the court did not want to interfere with freedom of speech in an election campaign.

Possibly but Quinlivin still can't sue. No fan of O'Dea, The Irish Mail or Sinn Fein.

Still would love to see Quinlivin sue. If he were going to do it, he would have done so before now.

odea is a crtein for coming put witha comment like that, hope the shinners sued ajd win,. but they wont because while tyhe evidence is on their side they wont want a discussion of how they are funded in open court, wont want to be cross examined that sort of thing
