Dog sole passenger in 250 mile State car journey

On Liveline Joe Duffy carries a story of a State Car having been used to ferry a dog 250 miles. The dog was the sole passenger. The Dept of Justice in a statement did not deny the story merely saying that the use of a state Car is up to the relevant person to whom it is assigned.

I'm sure this story will run. Anyone any further details?

Do we know why the dog was being transported?

I mean, if it was a customs dog or a Garda dog being transferred to a place of work, fair enough.

But if it was a ministerial family pet, then we really know the time has come for revolution.

State cars are habitually abused by ministers and their families. Drivers are sent to collect shopping, dry cleaning, to pick up kids from schools or dances or whatever and a driver was even sent to place a bet in a particular bookies !

How do I know ? Eh, well I couldn't tell you without revealing my experience of working in a minister's private office and that might identify me.

I'm guessing the latter. Whoever gave the tip-off wouldn't have bothered if the journey was legitimate. It's probably the first of many. (Note to Brian and Brian - this is what happens when you make Public Servants cross. )

Does this mean GUBU's officially back?

What type of dog was it? Breedwise...
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

This is really taking the pi_ss said totally subject to the actual circumstances and full story coming out, if ever it does

Guess the dog was exemplary in the ways of being toilet trained .... 250 miles is a hell of a long way .....
