SF will be mighty pleased with 11% after months of stagnation. On Lisbon - majorities like these have been overcome in the past, most notably in the divorce referendum of 1985. On FG's decline - I don't think they'll be too worried if they flatline at 30% but if they fall below it EK's leadership might come under the radar again. I interpret the results as a sign that the public-sector vote is rallying behind Labour because of their slavish support for their privileges. Perhaps what Pat Rabbitte once called those who "think Labour" are seriously considering 'voting Labour'. Nonetheless, too much should not be made out of this. Just as FF and FG have lost much of the public-sector vote, so too has FG gained a lot of private-sector votes for those frustrated with the aristocracy of the public-sector with its pensions and its allowances and its unconditional benchmarking ATM and obstruction to the opening of the markets dominated by public-sector monopolies. FG should stay the course. They still have an 8% lead over Labour. There is as yet no sign that Labour wil become the largest party. I noted with interest of late (I think on The Right Hook on Newstalk) Fintan O'Toole calling for a new Left-Right party system in this country. While I find it almost impossible to agree with him on anything whatsoever, I share this perspective - albeit from the other side of the fence. A party-system based on 2 Centrist parties entering govt with support from the Left is anomalous in European terms, and arguably deprives conservative voters (economically and/or socially) of real choice. We shouldn't have to choose between what Michael McDowell called "the left, the far left and the leftovers", but the media think otherwise. As in most Western countries, they dominate Irish intellectual life in this country, notably in the media. They need to be stood up to. BTW, are the Lisbon results excluding the DKs? If so that is significant as they tend to vote no.

This is true, I think people want Gilmore as Taoiseach, Kenny as Tanaiste and maybe minister of foreign affairs, with Richard Bruton minister of finance and Joan Burton as minister for trade, enterprise and employment.

How do you figure that? Labour at 23%, I know we have problems with people not studying higher maths but primary school arithmetic?

Anybody know what Labour solution to our problem is apart from "down with that sort of thing"?

sadly so, i think he'd make an excellent Taosaich (sp) but he does seem to struggle to connect with much of the populus, at this stage i'm not sure that he will / can

Increased taxes on the private sector, expand public service & welfare - standard socialism.

I figure that because Gilmore's ratings in every poll for months have been way ahead of Kenny's. He's the leader the public want.
    How's your primary school arithmetic?

I have the same figures by text from a reliable source.

Gilmore is doing fine but i think 25 seats will be his limit, the ground work is not there,
Kenny will get around 65 to 70 that is a success and will probably make him thoiseach,
