I'm thinking Paul McGrath and Ray Houghton?

WE are simple in Ireland, we are begruders,we hate anybody making a few euros,we have the most hateful thing called envy.
We where brought up to be statists, the nanny state.
The nanny state in Ireland is the first to show weakness,it's eating its self.
We have left our principles behind us,we think that the chimps in government are going to cure all ill's.These people are base, the worst type of parasitic greedy, hungry, rotten individuals you will ever see.We are stuck in a bog, neither the government nor the opposition have a clue.We are ********************ed .We can't changed generations of misery, dependence, anger and blame .We are now the africa of Europe without the resources, because our gov handed them away for nothing.
A champion of the people emerges with the age-old and appealing promise of "something for nothing" - to be financed through every-increasing taxes. Supply and demand are thrown out of gear - the overhead goes up; the effective use of human energy goes down; the standard of living is lowered because money cannot buy wealth that is not produced.

    WEAVER, HENRY GRADY,

Just picked this up in the Irish Times:
For the band’s guitarist, The Edge, the band’s tax affairs are “our own private thing – we do business all over the world, we pay taxes all over the world and we are totally tax compliant”. The guitarist added that due to the recession, the plan by himself and Bono to redevelop their Clarence Hotel in Dublin and the band’s plan to build a “U2 Tower” on Britain Quay in the city’s docklands were now “on hold” and “being looked at with a much colder eye”.

Could they be stuck for a few bob?

Bono states (re criticism about not paying taxes): “It hurts when the criticism comes in internationally,”

Does that mean he doesn't give a sh1t what the Irish think?

    another way is possible...

Why pick the Netherlands to pay taxes on royalties? Maybe because taxes on them are ehem very tax effecient Netherlands: Royalty Conduit Companies

Other celebrities take a differebt approach:
    Katie Melua
Katie Melua: 'I have seen what it is like living in a country where people don't pay tax' - Telegraph

    Graham Norton
GRAHAM NORTON - NORTON HITS OUT AT BONO'S TAX DODGE

Fair play to Graham Norton...calling it as it is! Nobody is begrudging anybody of anything. We are being told that "Evryone must put their shoulder to the wheel"....did I miss the small print that said this excluded U2 and of course The President -who btw, has been made exempt from the Pub Serv Pension Levy so her 340k salary wont be affected!!!! what a joke! Then they want people on 20k to take a hit!!

Have you read the Times today. Poor ol Bono is "Hurt" by the outcry over his decision to move their royalties to Holland.

I don't think starting a campaign about tightening international tax regulations is in Ireland's interest - Barack Obama might be listening and then what's left of our economy would be really f***** if he acted to restrict American companies ability to use Ireland as a favourable tax destination.

I think some people here want jam on both sides of their bread.
