    Financial Regulator calls in Gardai

RTE are just reporting that the Financial Regulator has just announced that during its investigation of Anglo it has found matters of such seriousness that it has called in the Gardai. It appears it concerns "market abuse" issues.

    Trying to find link.

I wonder what these could be!

    Did they find shredded evidence?

or attempts to flush evidence away?

Perhaps a member of the bank staff was dressed inappropriately?

No doubt Mary O' Dea again in a fit of belated indignation to try to nail the CEO job full time.

Matt Cooper just read a bit of a statement from the FR, but it was unclear from the bit he read whether or not the matters that needed referring to the Gardai were within Anglo or within the F Reg itself

    yup.

george lee was regaling us with notions of 10 million in fines and 10yrs in pokey.

im pretty sure he implied theres TWO indivduals in particular involved but will have to watch the news again to see.

it was a real "blink and ya miss it" moment but at least it happend.

It's nothing to do with the Regulator. It relates, according to RTE's coverage of the statement, to matters the Regulator found during its present investigation of Anglo. Therefore the Gardai have been called in to investigate matters relating to Anglo.

Here it is, as Corelli said, concerning Anglo itself

All consistent with what Cowen said lately about the need to send a signal.
