Seems pretty innocuous to me. What's the problem?

Any chance you could resize that link to look something like this? You can even copy the code from this post.
If you really wanted to know this, you should have checked out the Integrating Ireland website and gone to their section "About Us". The section entitled "Funders" surely makes it fairly clear where they get the money from. They get it from Comhlámh, a development workers group, and the European Refugee Fund, which is funded by the EU.

The problem is that it is my belief that their activities are being financed out of public funds rather than by private donation.Originally Posted by Worldbystorm
If true then the government is funding groups that are openly critical of our treatment of the 'Asylum Seekers' (so called).
These people should not have access to public money (ie taxpayers money) to finance activities that clearly do not have the support of the vast majority of the Irish people.
If you were to set up a pressure group to work against letting more AS in do you think you would be allowed access to public funds to help your cause?![]()

Well broadly it seems they're not being funded directly out of the public purse. But I think it's a big leap to say that they are conducting 'activities that clearly do not have the support of the vast majority of Irish people'. How do you make that out.Originally Posted by Catalpa
I wouldn't set up such a group, as well you know. But I would think that a debate calls for all sides and none to be represented.

Comhlámh was established in 1975 by APSO (the Irish Government) to support returned development workers, who in turn sought to promote effective global development. Since then it has grown into a national membership organisation of RDW’s and others interested in global development issues.Originally Posted by Pidge

Hey that's us folks!
and there's more...
A European Refugee Fund of EUR 216 million has been created to help Member States of the European Union* receive asylum seekers, refugees and displaced persons
The EU! Hey that's us again folks!
So they are doing out of our pockets even though their agenda (more AS,more immigrants) is something the majority either don't want or have serious concerns about.
I want taxpayers money to oppose these jokers! :
Honestly what are my chances?![]()

Catalpa would you ever fix the link at the top of the page, as Pidge suggested, or just deleted, as people can use the one he's provided?

Yes I understand the status of Comlamh. But it's my belief that if a state sets up a group to carry out work in an area that it then has to grant that group some degree of autonomy.
If Comlamh, in it's wisdom decides to give money to this I can't see a big problem.
Another point, you're assuming that this is a 'nefarious' meeting. It could as easily be a discussion on processes and streamlining them. If cheaper Irish taxpayer wins.

Actually, we're not the Irish Government, but that's more of a semantic issue.Originally Posted by Catalpa
You also have to accept that a government will give money to groups which it deems worthwhile, you mightn't think the same, but that's where this lovely democracy thing comes into play.
