more fool me for thinking you would discuss the topic at hand.
I think its quite obviouse that you know you got this completely wrong from the start. no problem we can all do that, but once called upon to enter a sensible debate you just run for the nearest setpiece bunker.
Have you noticed that most people dont bother to reply to you in more than simple one line put downs? this is why.
Honestly if you have a point of view, no matter how much i disagreed i would have debated.
youve wasted a bit of my time, your wasting a lot more of yours, time to move on my friend. you dont want to waste your youth doing this.
Im sorry if this seems condasending, but i genuanly mean it, you wont make any progress here or in the real world with that aproach.
maybe see you on another thread- hope you do better

Is this because Irish citizens have a special status in the Uk, i.e. we arent treated as aliens in UK immigration law and as such considered 'settled' on arrival in the UK.

We get to vote in their general election, but our criminals also have to serve their time alongside an Englishman.

HH, with respect, you're making the same mistake I did and treating "Risteard" as a serious poster when he's nothing of the sort. If you take the time to read back over his previous posts on this and other subjects you'll see what I mean. There is a very clever comic genius out there who uses the Risteard persona to, frankly, take the piss out of irish republicanism and in particular that peculiar "Wee Free" strand of it that regards some random grouping of rural comic characters, either self selected or arbitrarily chosen by a slightly larger group of agricultural grotesques, as the legal government of the "Real" Irish Republic! I know, I know, hilarious and idiotic in equal measure but in the end it's only harmless fun and it keeps them off the streets and out of the mental institutions. I confess it took me a while to rumble him but it was always there if you chose to look for it. I mean. look at his latest offerings, "the belly of the beast" and "they incarcerate our country under their villainous control". Classic stuff! , I mean, what took me so long !!!!

Well done "Risteard", you never fail to amuse and tittilate and long may you continue, (I think a column in the Irish Times is on the cards!). The only sad thing is that there are fools out there who actually think like that, but at least you help us to laugh at them!

    Irish and British

I fully support the wishes of a Democratic Ireland to control its own island without interference.

What many people do not realise is that the people of the Republic of Ireland a different country can and do have members of Parliament in the British Governmnet. This is rooted in our historical laws and allows the Irish to have a voice inside the British Government.

If the issue is on Prisinors having longer sentences as British Citizens rather then Irish Citizens I would have thought this would benefit everyone Irish and British has it works as a strong deterent to anyone who would want to commit any crimes if they have to serve in prison longer.

As for one posters comments on deporting Irish citizens from the UK I along with the rest of the country would not even imagine such a thing since the people of both countries realise and enjoy having the connection. In the UK we see the Irish has our brothers.

If Ireland were to come under attack from another country the UK would 100% give Navy, Army and Air support in its defence automaticaly thus benefiting Ireland which is free to carry out its policies as it sees fit.

Northern Ireland is also a funny topic because even if the UK were to give it back "Formaly" this would have no effect on the British citizens having the right to work and live there automaticaly since this is our right as EU citizens and vice versa. The whole issue seems outdated unless the EU does not exist.
