Unfortunately this is Ireland and if FF are anyway involved (even in the context of a national government) when this economy finally looks up again (however long thatl be) thatl be enough for people to go back to the FF fold in a GE and vote them back in again and thatl leave FG in the doldrums (again!)

Even with what theyve done, a full quater of the country say theyd vote for them at at the next GE - says it all really!

I think FG learned a valuable lesson from the Tallaght Strategy and wouldnt go back there again!

    Correct!!!

Correct,if thats what you care about!

The problem here is 2 fold.
    Power or power?

    Yeah, clear as mud!

We are no doubt in serious sh1t.

So do the powers that be.............
    1.care about power

    OR

    2. care about getting us out of the sh1t.

Personally I think we have gone beyond a national government.

Only a change will convince the rest of the world that the "cosy" protectionism has gone and some semblance of confidence can be restored.
after that it don't much matter about the logistics of it.
The financial world requires an end to what we have for some semblance of credibility to return

There won't be a national government, the current opposition wouldn't have anything to gain from it. If Enda wanted a national government then I'm sure he'd call for one.

A national government is the last thing we need, a good opposition is just as important
as a good government, Fianna Fail is too close to corruption and must be got rid of in its entirety

The problem with the idea of a national government is that it pre-supposes that there are members of the current Cabinet who will remain in the Cabinet of such a government,

Who, for God's sake, could possibly remain from the FF/PD element of our current Cabinet???

    Coughlan?
    Cullen?
    Harney?

    No chance.

A general election is needed. Nothing else will do.

O'Reilly must be hurting - we need a national govt. to save the country according to the Indo. - its all Enda Kenny's fault for attacking FF.
You would think that the Greens would have some concern about the number of trees which are wasted to produce this rubbish.

    Here's an idea...

Fianna Fail could just step down. That easy, Fine Gael and Labour have said for years that this would happen, they weren't listened to then... they won't be listened to now.

What we need is a Genral Election, it could be over with by the end of March.

The problem here isn't Fine Gael resisting a national government it's Fianna Fail's inability to admit they've completely ********************ed up. They'll do anything to hold on to power, even if it means flushing the country down the toilet.
