It appears to me there is a funny correlation between this ranking and GDP/capita ranking. Must be some right-wing conspiracy this free-market thing.
Does this really mean free from left wing politics?

If so Ireland is pretty free but not a title I would be proud of .

Maximums, the health service is a well known shambles and I don't need to explain why it's a matter of public record.
100 000 less people are coverd by medical cards when you promised 200 000 MORE.
School building are deapidated and continue to fall apart while your ministers ammounce funding for them over and over and over and over and it never seems to get there.

Luas was overtime, overbudget, and is not joined up.

You siad you'd have a Metro by 2007 you han't even started diggin.
The road network is behind schedule and there is still gridlock on the m50 due to the toll barrier.

The Rainbow are not MY CROWD, and hearg the "when your shower were in power" argument, as an indpident voter, is begining to piss me off, you may aswell say "yeh were ************************e but you were slighlty more ************************e" and as for the pension bit there was, as you well know, less money then as the economy was only begining to take off.

Maybe if you'd held back the tax cuts for the rich and invested the money in public services we'd have a decent infarstructure in place by now.

No it isn't. Oh, and why did you forget to mention homicidal violent crime, which is at its highest since 1922? Care to explain that, TK?

and we have one of the cleanest environments in Western Europe, etc etc.
Which must be why we're heading for huge fines from the EU over our failure to get within an asses roar of our emissions commitments. Oh, and don't forget illegal dumping and the lamentable failure by this government to police same. Care to explain that, TK?

“Our infrastructure is still in ************************e”

travel times between major urban centres have been cut by up to 35%
Meanwhile, within urban centres, congestion is estimated to cost businesses in Dublin alone over 660 million euro in a full year. And Dublin is a slower city to get round than Calcutta. And it'll take at least 5 years to introduce freeflow tolling at the Westlink bridge, despite a similar system being conceived and executed all around London in nine months. Oh, and the Port Tunnel. Care to explain those, TK?

as a result of an unprecedented expansion of our motor way network,
Including the new N4, which motorists are avoiding because of the outrageous toll charges. Explanation, TK?

LUAS carries almost 100,000 people per day,
At a cost of 880 million euro, LUAS delivers the same number of passengers, at the same average speed, as two QBCs - cost - 60 million. Oh, and the LUAS lines don't link up. Dare we ask for an explanation, TK?

no citizen is more than 30km from a serviced airport… etc etc
Complete and utter bullsh*t, for a start - lots of citizens are. But of course none of them are anywhere near an airport with a rail link - because, amazingly, there isn't one - despite government promises. Care to explain, TK?

    Don’t lecture the present Government;
Oh, but we will, you dope.

The Government has just finished a major upgrade of the entire rail network, capacity on the DART line has been boosted by 40%, travel times between major urban centres have been cut by up to 35% as a result of an unprecedented expansion of our motor way network, LUAS carries almost 100,000 people per day, no citizen is more than 30km from a serviced airport… etc etc
This explains the loyal defense of the indefensible Mary O'Rourke yesterday. Maximus and some others like him need to get out more and see some of the world.

Ireland had one of the very best education systems in the world but thanks to lack of vision and investment we have slipped badly. Jeysus there was even talk of Dempsey (?) reintroducing third level fees recently.

Social welfare is good but it depends on what you compare it to.

Tax is ludacrously biased against the middle class PAYE worker. The reason a FF/PD government is tolerated is because people are afraid of the left raising taxes which will mean this sector picking up more of the national tab than ever.

Non-homicidal crime me arse. Froggy Ward had 4 warrants out for him. He drove his van every day without tax and insurance. His crimes dont show up on your figures. The people petrified by him and his ilk dont do surveys.

we have one of the cleanest environments in Western Europe
Hilarious stuff. It's no thanks to you or any of the rest of us. We dont have a heavy industrial tradition and we have prevailing winds that come off an ocean. But you would take credit for that.

Dart!!!!! It was opened in 1984. Where is the rest of it? Your hero had offers to build a metro or parts thereof at the expense of foreign companies. They would operate the finished article for a number of years ( 50? ) and then hand the facility back to the State free gratis. You would think that you couldn't screw it up wouldn't you?

As for infrastructure just go to Spain. They are building more new motorways in a week than we plan to build per year.

The above is not all FF's fault. But when you crow about nothing spun into a triumph as a defense of your politics I will happily blame them.
Laws are like sausages, it is better not to see them being made. Otto von Bismark
