A committee? OMG that's going to have the culprits shaking in their boots!!!

What would be the point in setting up a committee to have a chat with these people? Would it restore our reputation on the international financial scene? What sanctions, if any, could an Oireachtas Committee impose on any wrong doing if chatted about at the committee?

Sorry for being cynical but as far as most of the people I know are concerned it's a fraud squad / CAB investigation that is needed here.
The entire question of what went on on in the banks is a complete distraction at this stage.

Public debate needs to urgently return to the public finances. The misdeeds of bankers can be dealt with later.

Other than for grand, grand, grand larceny and other imaginary offences, have our fraud squad (sic) received any complaints of real offences yet? If not, why do not the experts here go to them and force an investigation?

    Cunning Plan.

Prosecutions could fail because the case is tainted by public scrutiny in the committee.

We should have always had powers to compel anyone to Oireachtas Committees.

Its fully welcomed, if its used and not for show.
