There will be a fall in our standard of living.

Some FF minister was on newstalk telling us there will be a fall in our standard of living over the next few years. Not sure which minister it was because they all sound the same at this stage. What exactly does this mean? Does it mean instead of eating steak I'll be eating some cheap meat? Drinking cheap beer instead of a premium brand?

Will the people who caused the mess feel the same pain?

I'm pretty sure that the estate agents, property developers, bankers, solicitors and politicans will still be eating the finest of steak and the nicest of wines over the next few years.

This Govt is going to make us drink Dutch Gold now. I'm used to Tiger beer, damn them all.

Maybe they mean that they are going to do something about the crooks at the top of society and that they will be eating the food in the Joy ?

Doubt it somehow. I'll make a deal with the Govt, i'll switch to Dutch Gold if they put Bertie in the Joy for a few years. It would be a sacrifice worth paying.

Martin Cullen said on newstalk "We have been to generous to ourselves with taking second holidays and weekend breaks".

    Let them eat cake....

Whether or not Marie Antonette said it, it seems most apt in current circumstances. Marie met Madame Guillotine soon after this remark was atributed to her.

They should be careful, treating themselves like royalty.

I'm no fan of estate agents but they aren't making any money these days. Solicitors are losing out on the easy money they got from the property boom too.

So they too will see a fall in their living standards.
