Not that it's ever likely to become a problem.

I know that this isnt popular...but 45% of the population of waterford voted FF at the last election. A good chunk of hte protesters did, Im sure. So, for them, my pity is muted.

Is there any basis for believing that a FG led government would have made a difference? This blaming of the voters is coming up is almost every context. But FG and Labour offered variations on the Fianna Fail theme. If they had offered an actual alternative they could take the high moral ground now. But they did not.

no, no idea if they would have done better, tbh. But, we will never know will we. For years the waterforders elected Cullen, so, my smpathy for them is very very limited. And I am not a member of FF/FG/SF/PD/ETC ETC. Just fed up with idiots being elected and then the people who elected them whinging that they are idiots.

So you planned mass protests against every foreign company who opens an office here due to cheap foreign labour and taxes etc...????

An alternative coalition Govt would have made no difference.

While one of the potential buyers is stated to be interested in the brand alone and not in continuing production in Waterford, media reports say the second interested group, led by the former MD,has made a formal bid which would see the retention of about 300 jobs in Waterford.

Let's hope that's true. However, it probably won't address the problem with the pension fund and the likelihood that hundreds of workers will be both redundant and without any company pension.
That's where the political pressure will come - to do something for those people.

Why cant this government not Run Lisbon 2? Thats going to cost a few million, and with the cash saved buy out Waterford Crystal?

Surely when you add up the sums all those who will end up on unemployment benefits will cost the government more than the 30 million needed to save them.
If Gnash1970 says im feenxp then I guess I must be!

Just watch how Gnash1970 destroys a thread.

The Liquidator has to accept the highest bid, he is duty bound by his obligation to the High Court to do so. If that is this KBC crowd then that is that. I suspect that KBC are the highest bidder as I cannot see any bid that includes maintaining manufacturing in Waterford being capable of doing so unless it is getting the assets for a song.
