David Irving Arrested in Austria for Holocaust Denial

Is this an intrusion on free speech or is it just to outlaw certain opinons on issues like the Holocaust?

I'm not sure what you mean by 'fair'. They're legally entitled to enforce the law, but it's not a law that I'd support, if that answers the question.

You shouldn't lock someone up for having an opiniion.

If the government has the power to lock someone up for having an opinion YOU disagree with, then they also poitentially ahve the power to put YOU in prison for one of YOUR opinions.

I hate the idea of nazism, fascism, call it what you will, but to lock someone up for their views is precisely what a fascist regime would do.

The man may be wrong, big time, but nonetheless, people have the right to be wrong. Would someone like paisley be locked up for his comments linking the vatican to the holocaust if he visited austria?

because if he was I would also be of the opinion that it was wrong to do so.
he may be wrong, but 'I may not agree.........'
If I could mass-sterilise the planet, I would. Seriously.

It is a difficult one. Some of his points regarding for instance the actual scarcity of gas chambers in camps are valid. Should a truth even if offending a taboo be censored? Probably not.

It's only difficult if you believe that lies should be censored under criminal law.

So you would be against someone voicing support for the war in Iraq, or is it only support for certain violence you would agree with censuring.
