And a lot of people aren't happy about this either including quite a number of priests. Apparently some parents in the Diocese of Cloyne are refusing to let their kids be confirmed by Bishop Magee later this year too.

I think we may be witnessing a 'civil war' within the Church.
I watched with glee, while your kings and queens, fought for ten decades for the gods they made.

Whilst I agree with the sentiments you express, the title of the thread is somewhat misleading as the Bishops conference has no authority or right to disclipine or fire the Bishop of Cloyne. Saying that if they had come out collectively and said that it was unacceptable behavior and he was untenable in his position the Pope would have had no option but to remove him.

They are simply being true to themselves and their beliefs....confused, out of touch, non-reality based, esoteric, selfish, inward-looking, backward. In an age of flashy presentation and slick communication, I for one commend them on their Christian honesty.

He is a very suave, media savvy and ambitious guy. I expect he wants the top job some day.

i knew somebody would say that, ******************** their rules and regulations, i never said the bishop's conference was the decider, they said they consulted with the pope before the meeting, apparently he doesn't have the authority to fire them either according to the editor from the irish catholic.
