If the Civil Service was a Car...

    What model would it be?

I'm gonna go for a green 1996 Avensis (running agri-diesel).

Preferably with KY or TS plates.

The Avensis didn't exist in 1996...but I see where you're going.

The Avensis while dull and getting the job done, does it much too efficiently to be the Civil Service.

I'd be going more along the lines of a Renault Safrane

Prone to glitches, works, but not always well, and there are much more efficient ways of getting around.

Dermot Morgan did a Scrap Saturday sketch years ago saying the Haughey's FF was like a car (he was in Noonan mode). He said the car had no engine and no wheels; Charlie was sitting in the driving seat with the windows up and the door locked. He knew the car was going nowhere but he was damned if anyone else could get in the driving seat.

    Plus ca change.

At least all the cars being suggested are in proper working order. They may be boring and plodding but they get you where you need to go. On the other hand....
