Convicted Post Office Robber Denied Pension

Matt Leen a former P&T employee who served 7 years for his part in the robbery of Tralee Post Office in 1978 claims he has been refused a pension from An Post until he pays back the amount they claim he owes them. This amount comes to over €200,000 including interest.

Personally I think the guy has some cheek to go looking for it.

He exceeded the withdrawal limit in his previous post office transactions, hence the trouble.

At least the man had the guts to carry out an armed action for his political convictions. Plenty of wasters sat on bar stools and waffled about the struggle, this man went and did something about it. He seems principled enough to me, his life would have been much more comfortable had he kept his head down and say or do nothing.

    How ya Matt...
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

I know Matt and wouldn't be a fan of his, but he did his time (3 decades ago!) and should get his pension.

This is just vindictiveness on the part of An Post, and I hope he wins his case.

He paid his debt to society but not to his employer.
