Ireland plays a big part in the opening of the British Parliment Every Year!

Now maybe the educated of you here may have already known this, but I have just discovered this and to be honest im not sure if im angry or amused.

Irish State Coach - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Irish State Coach is an enclosed, four horse-drawn carriage used by the British Royal Family. It is the traditional horse drawn carriage in which the Queen goes to Parliament from Buckingham Palace to open the new Parliamentary session in United Kingdom.

The original Irish State Coach was built in 1851 by the Lord Mayor of Dublin. Although extensively damaged by fire in 1911, the existing coach was completely restored in 1989 by the Royal Mews carriage restorers. The exterior is blue and black with gilt decoration and the interior is covered in blue damask. It is normally driven from the box seat using four horses.

Should we ask for it back?

According to this list it was made by one Benjamin Guinness. He doesn't look the handy sort. Appearances are deceptive I guess. Nice job:

Would that mean the British state could ask for its stuff back from us? That could cause problems...

You forgot to mention that all the coach horses and all Troopers horses in the Household Cavalry Division are Irish bred.

Interesting to note the really fancy looking Gold State Coach was also built in Dublin (1762)
