Are you doing your patriotic duty?

The government in the budget called for every Irish person to do there patriotic duty.

We are now being told we are unpatriotic if we dont shop this Christmas in the republic.

So which of you are patriots and who are shoppping up in the North?

I for one will do my patriotic duty and vote this shower out at the next election, but until them my family comes first and Northern Ireland and half price Kerrygold butter here I come!

I'm off to Newry this saturday. As for retailers here in the south, they have ripped us off for far too long so my attitude is feck em! If they want to have my custom they have to stop ripping us off.

Best of luck with traffic up there.
I was driving by last weekend. Not a pretty sight.
People should ensure that they do not get more than they would normally do.
I would imagine this is the case with the majority of people who go up there with the net effect you are spending just as much.

that would be true if they were wasting the extra purchases but if you can buy 15 tins of beans in NI for the cost of 10 here unless you only have an annual tin of beans they'll be savings in the longer term....

one would think that buying in bulk here practical would be far more effective

Im going up tommorow, a friend went to eniskillen last week and told me the place was packed, full of southern irish! They were even fighting over a bottle of wine in ASDA`s.

Anyone catch the programme on TV3 last night? The Manager in sainsburys Newry said he even gets customers from CORK!

Just to mention also, ASDA in NI take Euro`s! No need to exchange.!

It's cheaper and faster for me to shop in Glasgow than Belfast and GLW has better shops.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.
