    Culture of entitlment within FAS

Rody Molloy, CEO of FAS, has defended the perks given to top executives and their spouses within the organisation.

Apparently he thinks we should feel sorry that he 'has traded down' to Business class from First class when he travels with his wife transaltantic because he is entitled to travel First class.

This is when people are increasingly going on the dole and living on half of what it costs to travel first class to the USA.

regardless of the fact that he has broken no rules, which says alot about the culture of entitlement that permanates from the government, it is morally wrong.

    .
He must think he works for Ford or GM
If engineers were wrong as often as economists, would anyone fly aeroplanes?

Not accordig to Coughlan who thinks it's a great organisation run by a "decent man"!

Those orginasitions are pretty useless as there is no sense in upskilling (corny expression) if there are no jobs for the upskilled! Many people who lose their jobs are very skilled and could slip into most jobs with some minimal inhouse training. A candidate for a FAS course has to chose from what courses are available and if there is no job at the end of the course it is a waste of money.

FAS's chairman is a Donegalman, brother of the County Manager, so naturally Mary Palin will not move against them. "There are tough decisions to be made" does not apply to the placemen.

It is an organsiation from another age as someone else said: a copy of Britain's Manpower Training Agency, now dead and buried.

In which case if his wife travelled paid for by FAS it is a benefit in kind and taxable.

In one sense aul roddy is probably scratching his head going "why me ?". This is not just a Fas issue it is endemic in the whole government sector.Faced with cutbacks a dept will cut a nurse, teacher, community scheme etc. etc. before it will ever even think of tackling the blatant abuse of taxpayers funds especially among senior management. I have heard many stories of the opw paying for small renovation jobs, that you or i could have built a whole house for including, buying the land. I mean how can people sign off on this stuff, when they know full well the state is getting robbed.
