Convicted Jamaican Drug Smuggler given Refugee status

    Fom today's indo
A JAMAICAN drug courier sentenced to 10 years in jail for cocaine smuggling has been granted refugee status.
    ......
The Irish Independent can reveal that the Jamaican female drug courier received a 10-year sentence in 1999 after being caught with €50,000 worth of cocaine.
    .....
Her refugee status entitles her to work or operate a business, and to have access to medical, social welfare, and education services.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons...

She was initially refused but the decision was rescinded by the minister after she reapplied to the Refugee Appeals Tribunal.
    ....
Her initial 10-year sentence was later commuted to six years on appeal against severity.
    She can't be named.
We are not entitled to know why she wasn't deported.
She's already cost us a fortune and has now access to all state services the same as any irish taxpayer.
This tale is hardly going to discourage Jamaican drug mules from coming to Ireland, is it?

It was McDowell himself who granted her refugee status after she had been initially turned down.
Lately he seems to have allowed pretty much all the foreign chancer parents of irish born children to stay.
He had a mandate from the people to act tough from the citizenship referendum.
He's the worst sort of minister, he talks the talk and then doesn't deliver.

    Ombudsman,

do you have nightmares about big scary black men coming into your home at night and 'stealing your job'? I have put a big padlock and 'NO NON CELTS' sign written in permanent marker on my job - I am was going to get a security guard but they all seemed to be black and I was afraid that they might sell it to a uganda prince with 40 million to spare (if only we gave him our bankdetails).

I once seen two young romanian girls running down the street with a plum marketing position and a radiographers job in a shopping trolley - no-one would say anything as they were afraid of being labelled racist!

And then there was the polish lads who had a big sack of Irish colleens who were going around collecting the defenceless lasses!!!

I am starting to see things your way my friend! How I didnt before now is beyond me!

I am incensed that that super job selling the big issue at newlands cross has been taken by a one legged gypsy girl! the horrible bitch....bet she lost that leg on purpose - cunning career woman that she is.....

Granted, that's a bit "evening herald-y" as a subject heading but if you think that's "stirring up hatred", you're a bit off the mark. I think it's a fair point to ask the question on a forum as to why, prima facie, drug-convicted criminals are being taken in [as] edit for clarity: [to eventually become] citizens?

I don't think we know enough of the facts here.
That's complete nonsense. I disagree with you.

Nothing will motivate the lazy / apathetic / Americanised / west-British types to embrace their culture and the Irish language.
