it does in terms of FF appointees! and committee members should be selected on the basis of merit! Mc grath did a lot of good work on the Justice committee! and furthermore, Behan and mc grath are still members of the Oireachtas!!

These things are always given on the basis of who is in government. Don't pretend otherwise.

BTW, McGrath is an attention-seeking idiot. My worry is that he will go back to singing on reality shows in order to remedy his new lack of media oxygen

No, but as a previous poster said - the positions go to government members - especially those who please the Taoiseach, and withdrawing support from government does not look very good on a CV.

One is allowed have principles, in fact its quite admirable, but they understood there would be a cost for their stance. This is something that they can use to their advantage (re putting money where their mouths are) when they're knocking on doors in their constituency.

Not all FF! sure the job of chairman or convenor generally goes to government supporters but can you explain why Mc Grath as an ordinary member has been removed? considering its a cross-party committee....

Its also a message to other waverers that when you make the grand gesture and leave,then you are truly out lock ,stock and barrel. Maybe petty but could have a sobering effect on others who might think they could make a grandstand on some of the unpalatable items and come back in in a few months
