A Scottish born Motherwell player (cant think of his name) has declared for Northern Ireland but there isn't a word about that. That sums it up for me. In a normal world your analysis may hold some truth but this isn't a normal world - it's anti-ROI Scotland 2008 style.
Brian McLean - Now plays for the setarian statelet after representing Scotland at underage levels - Brian McLean - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ... not a word.

Burton O'Brien announced he wanted to play for South Africa after representing Scotland at under age levels... not a word about him either.

Umpteen players born outside of Scotland play for them - Stuart McCall + Shaun Maloney being two of the best known... nothing ever said there.

Other players such as Kris Boyd turn their back on their country - no word there either...

Only the Irish fellas who never represented Scotland at any level get the stick.

Both McCarthy and McGeady pay their taxes in Scotland and are legally allowed to live there. You are, once again, being a racist bigot on this thread.

Should Ronan O'Gara f*ck off back to America?

Should all Irish lads making money in different coutries be repatriated such as your brain dead post above states?

By the way are you not a foreigner living in Ireland?

Very good point about Kris Boyd by the way, not to mention Lee McCulloch.

Burton O'Brien was a quality player in his youth and everyone seemed happy for him to play for South Africa.

OFFS, a new level of MOPEry. I have never suggested that anyone should not be allowed to life where they like.

What I have said is that if a player turns his back on his native country to play for the opposition then they should expect to be jeering from the terraces.

On several threads, I've said that I don't believe in the grandparent rule, no matter WHO uses it. If you (and in this case your parents) are born in a country then that's the country you should play for. The fact that this guys sees fit to live and work in Scotland after deciding to turn his back on it, just shows how ridicuilous this rule is.

Let me add that I also reject the idea of players transferring from their native country to another one simply because they play there. (England are rumoured to be looking at trying to poach Mickel Arteta and others).

There's nothing bigotted or "racist" about it, and you only make yourself look pathetic by throwing aroundf words like that.
The Mahon Tribunal found Olivia Mitchell to have received an inappropriate payment from Frank Dunlop at the time of the 1992 Election. F.G. Gael has taken no action against her.

Would you except that for some reason these two players did not identify enough with Scotland to declare their elegiance to it.
I believe that the failure of scottish society to address sectarianism probably has a lot to do with it.

If there is anyoNe made look pathetic here it is Keith-M.

I wouldn't attribute much in the way of intellectual reasoning to him but it has been shown clearly in this thread that this abuse is addressed ONLY at players electing for Ireland and ONLY by Rangers "fans". The fool would not recognise this as bigotry because it falls way short of his own bigotry.

No reasonable person would look at the facts and come to any other conclusion.

Those police at the Hamilton v Rangers cup game on Tuesday who told Rangers fans they would be arrested if they directed any more Sectarian songs like "The famine is over, Why don't you go home" at the teenager...what is wrong with the police? Have they no regard for freedom of speech? Why would the pathetic police think the Rangers fans are sectarian??

    Keith-M a real clown.

Good news for the young gentleman, he's been picked fro the senior squad v Poland.

Bad news is he can now expect even more abuse from the bigoted Rangers thugs.
