Enforced Endorsement of British Forces 'Morally Repugnant' - RSF Hit Out at X Factor

RSF have criticised the X Factor for forcing an Irish contestant to promote British aggression throughout the world, whilst simultaneously forbidding Kevin Lynch's Hurling Club from using the name of the club on a banner supporting Dungiven's Eoghan Quigg.

ristears you are a very very small man in a band of small men. Go for a fcking walk, take in the world, it's actually a grand place. If the kid was forced and this was some sort of morally repugnant act of Brit imperialism, how come his family were in the studio wearing GAA jerseys? When you see a 20 year old soldier with his legs blown off, you don't ask what fcking crown or country he's been sent to fight for and when the country that is making this Irish kid famous asks for 3 minutes help for their troops, with the added bonus of sending him to the top of the charts, well it would have been unwise to decline

The chap is a British subject on a British game show - if he's that nationalistic towards Ireland why didn't he go on Eurostar or whatever it's called nowadays?

I respect the principle behind what you're doing i.e. objection to imperialism and all that - but we're talking about a talent competition FFS, and also why did your man not walk out if he found it so offensive, that ain't coersion!

This is why i have little respect fro RSF, because they invest so much time into such trivial tokenistic gimmicks.

Surely ye can think of far better ways of protesting against British imperialism than this rubbish.

So what's the point of kicking up a fuss over a few pawns? RSF should be aiming for the king or at least a rook!!

My understanding is that they are not supposed to.

Mr. Walsh's sources are impeccable, and that was what he said.
