Lives at risk as X-Factor used to glorify Brit army.

X Factor stars in death threat horror

The X-factor has been deemed anti-Muslim by a preacher as the show prepares to use its contestants, (one of which is only 16) for political means and to glorify the British army by covering an extremely cheesy Mariah Carey song called 'Hero' dedicated to mercenaries wounded in the war against Iraq.

The tabloids have jumped all over this calling the man a hate preacher etc....
They failed to point out the fact that hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims have been killed in the east by the occupying forces in an illegal war which they are trying to glorify to kids through this song.
I think Muslims have a right to be offended by the glorification of these wars just as any othr human being has a right to be offended by the glorification of murder.

The single 'Hero' and special wristbands aim to raise thousands of pounds for the Help For Heroes charity which helps injured servicemen in Afghanistan and Iraq.

This could also put the Dungiven hurler Eoghan Quigg in a tough position as he now has to sing for British troops, something i'm sure he didnt realise when he was auditioning.
Abstinence makes the Church grow fondlers.

That's not a very nice position to put young Eoghan Quigg in.

You know, I do love these anti-sectarian sectarians, it's quite pathetic.

Exactly! My guess is that Young Quigg would sing God Save The Queen if he thought he could win the show with it. The are all on there for their 5 minutes of fame - nothing else.

I agree, the people of Dungiven wouldn't be overly keen on tributes to the British army. Puts a child in a very awkward position. The same when Amir Khan had a fight shortly after 7/7 (he was about 19). The promoters put on this big thing of him being the positive face of British muslims - lo and behold the wackos made a bomb threat and the arena had to be cleared.

Look, I was totally against the Iraq war. We could all see the case for invasion was less than compelling at the time. However, it seems to me that you do not believe that the UN mandated fight with the Taliban is acceptable either. This is what disgusts me about these liberal leftists. Their moral ambiguity. The taliban represent a barbaric medieval mindset and trained and sheltered those involved with 9/11. At this stage, there probably isn't much to be gained by putting more soldiers' lives at risk so maybe the West should pull out. But for you to show implicitly a support for the taliban who brought the war on Afghanistan is truly shocking. You are like Sinn Fein. If the Brits are involved,it MUST be bad.

He's a 16 years old kid from the nationalist side of Derry being asked to sing a song in aid of the British Army.

You really don't think that's an awkward situation for him?

He'll sing the song because he has to to win the competition and will justify it to himself and the majority of people as "just a song" but there will be some in his community who will hold it against him.

Why couldn't they pick Oxfam or Children in Need as their charity. No awkwardness there.
