    Stop the builder bailout

Seeing as FF wont listen to the people of Ireland when it comes to bailing out the builders, register your complaint to nice people in Europe, who FF seem to love listening to

    Very interesting -

Judging on the current level of FF (in)competancy, they will probably end up agreeing some form of compromise whereby first time buyers from any EU state can avail of the scheme to buy a new build property anywhere they like in Europe! I wouldn't put it past them!

I'd rather the money went to some builder in holland than some grubby fecker who only got planning permission here because he knows the right people.

It´s been pointed out on the pin that this bailout will increase the national debt burden by between €2.5 and €6.5 billion.

This is important. The medical cards fiasco is not important, because the medical cards cut for over-70s will certainly be dropped or modified so that only millionaires are affected. Therefore it doesn´t matter.

Billions added to the national debt will KILL people.

It will raise the cost of borrowing so much that medical investments will need to be slowed down. Poorly functioning equipment will not be replaced quickly enough for lack of money, thus killing people.

Staff who need more training to improve their ability to recognise cancerous samples more reliably will not be trained for lack of money, thus killing people.

The medical cards fiasco is interesting, but the problem will be fixed so that nobody will die. The builders bailout will kill people. Probably someone you know. There´s no way for Ireland to borrow billions more without being forced to slash needed life-saving spending on health.

This is MORE IMPORTANT than the medical cards fiasco, remember that.
When you see the words "Mises" or "Hayek" in someone's post, just ask yourself: do I really want to ban paper money and go back to gold?

You have to pity the kind of people who buy into conspiracy theories. I find the following to be the saddest words on the internet: "Re: connection between Bilderberg puppet lady gaga and viral outbreak in ukraine "

Do Cowen or Lenihan smoke cigarettes?

Do either Brian Cowen or Brian Lenihan smoke cigarettes? It's just that they always seem to have a fagbox handy when it's time to draw up any plans of national importance. Our country's future is being mapped out on the backs of fagboxes using one of those little biros you get in the bookies.

On the plus side, at least they are recycling.

You give them far too much credit. I reckon the budget was worked out on the back of a postage stamp!

Absolutely but there is no anti building lobby so whose gonna speak out?

You would hope that Fine Gael or Labour would but they are just not good opposition...
FF are great opposition but not good governors imho. They govern to placate the lobbys and block votes - Fine Gael and Labour seem to hope you get the idea that FF are incompetant with out saying anything...

FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS, NOT A DAY GOES BY WHEN WE ARE NOT REMINDED OF HOW INEPT OR CORRUPT OR MISINFORMED OR JUST PLAIN STUPID THIS GOVERNMENT IS....
they fail across the board on all their portfolios.

Hell they got Al Capone on tax evasion - maybe (please god) the blue rinse brigade will deliver us the unholy trinity of Cowen, Harney and Gormley...
The early bird may get the worm - but the second mouse gets the cheese.

    .

The trouble is, a lot of the voters share these characteristics with their rulers.
