TD's no longer supporting the government:

I know there are separate threads for each TD's views, but I thought it would be usefuul to have a thread to look at the overall picture

News at 1 reporting Finian McGrath saying the latest changes still do not go far enough, the proposal must be scrapped.
I've not heard what Behan's views are but he had said nothing less than complete reversal would be acceptable.

These figures from another thread (posted by BlueTide and coc)

    the government orginally consisted of
FF(78)+GN(6)+PD(2)+IND(4)=90 while the opposition consisted of FG(51)+lab(20)+SF(4)+IND(1)=77 so the gap was 13.

Seamus Brennan dies and bev returns to FF.
FF(78)+GN(6)+PD(2)+IND(3)=89 so the gap became 12.

Behan and McGrath stop supporting the government.
FF(77)+GN(6)+PD(2)+IND(2)=87 while the oppostion consisted of
FG(51)+Lab(20)+SF(4)+IND(3)=78 so the gap became 9
Any (inteligible) word from Healy Rae, or from the other Indo's?

I just phoned Michael Lowry's office on on 0504-22022 to say how dissapointed I am.

Spoke to a VERY rude man who was almost shouting at me saying "THERE IS NO MEANS TEST ANYMORE"...

I think someone has misinformed him - or maybe someone else would like to give Lowry's office a call?

Ahern designed the Coalition of 90 votes to ensure that FF had a firewall against the Green Party in the event of any landmines erupting. Minus the Greens they would still have 84 votes

With Behan and McGrath gone, and Seamus Brennan (regrettably) deceased, FF are now depending on the Greens, a party on the verge of collapse, and a former Fine Gael Minister to stay in office.

Hardly a very comfortable situation for Cowen?

Not ideal and there are a few others waiting to take potshots at the government starting with teachers

JHR was on the News at One.

He said he didn't know anyone in South Kerry who earned more than €700 per week so he was happy out.

Lowry came on after him and said the same thing. He said he went through all his files with his secretary and he could find any constituents who earned more than this.

I find it quite odd the ML knows how much money his constituents earn.

    Isn't the threshold 240 a week? 500 for a couple?
