Kerrynorth says the next Red C poll won't be till next Sunday. Indo polls should be taken with a pinch of salt given their tiny sample-sizes (500).

Yes, Kerrynorth sent me a PM to that effect.

That REDC poll will be very interesting indeed, in terms of seeing just how much damage FF have suffered and whether it is SF or FG that pick up the support.

There will be next week - and regardless of the numbers, it will vindicate Sinn Fein's long-term strategy and the slow-release benefits of the 2005 IRA statement.

We will have to see what the results are before commenting on it. But it seems likely that many of those disillusioned with FF could switch to SF.

This poll will be one of the most interesting in a very long time.

    ??? Are you serious???

SF have failed in the Republic. They are a deep-seated marginal party everywhere but Dublin City Council.

They will lose their one MEP seat in the Republic next year. If they were ever going to make a breakthrough in the South they would have made it last year. They didn't. They lost a seat. They may pick up one or two next time or conceivably they may lose one i.e. Aengus Ó Snódaigh's.

There is a constituency- albeit tiny- who switch between FF and SF but with FF eventually becoming an all-island party most of these will support FF.

SF have not failed in the republic and in fact have grown their vote share in each and every election for a long time. I believe Mary Lou will hold on to her seat. Lisbon saw to that. Finally, FF have decided not to become an all Ireland party so that your last point is very highly hypothetical.
