    Bogus Carbon Tax.

Is anyone else pissed off about this?.. The economy is going down the toilet and just to make things worse the idiots in the dark have decided to cripple it even further by imposing a bogus carbon tax in order to "save the environment" (). Will people ever wake up to this obvious scam I wonder?.

    Totally Bogus is right.

See my comment in the thread Environment and Cabinet Confidentiality.
Cowardice asks the question - is it safe? Expediency asks the question - is it politic?
Vanity asks the question - is it popular? But Conscience asks the question - is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular;but one must take it simply because it is right. -MLK

Stealth Tax. Utter rubbish. What worries me know is where the money is going to go. If it goes to schools and hospitals. All good a nd well, if it goes to research some ************************* of a "theory" expect all hell to break loose.

A litre of diesel contains energy equivalent to over 100 man hours of work, and you think it is too dear at €1.31?

    Get a grip!

If you think the Government is going to impose a carbon tax why did you link to an article that said that the Government was not going to impose a carbon tax?

I don't need to get a grip - I need to get to work. And every cent of tax on fuel, is a tax on work. Don't believe me? Ask the guy in ESB who pays for the fuel for our power generation plants.......every keyboard press you're making here, generates revenue for the govt.

So, yes, I do think it's too dear. When the producing countries can sell it for a profit at a fraction of what we pay for it, you know what's wrong is The System, not the fuel itself.

Don't know about you, but you're man hours comparison is complete worthless. ********************, why not bring back child labour while you're at it - that way we can pay less the the minimum wage...........think of all the money we'd save...

I posted the wrong link, sorry.

Government urged to introduce €550m carbon tax - The Irish Times - Fri, Sep 26, 2008

It will be introduced eventually, there is no doubt about that.
