They have already awarded 2 peace prizes in relation to the North (and one of those was for the 'peace process' which began in the 90's) how many more are needed? Or is it that they can find so few potential candidates among the powerful who have ever in their lives been involved in any way in a search for peace that they have to keep awarding the same peace process more than once?
Look at a few recent examples...
2001... UN, Kofi Annan
2002... Former US President
2003... Iranian Critic of Iran regime's HR record.
2005... worked against Arabs getting the bomb
2006... awarded for capitalism
2007... Al Gore, global warming
You have to have a certain political usefulness or viewpoint, or to be very famous and powerful, to stand any chance. If they want the award to have credibility they should give it to some obscure person in the Congo who risked their lives to help villagers, or in Darfur, or a community worker who stood up to the police and the drug gangs in Rio, an Iraqi angel of mercy, that Hotel manager who saved those lives in Rwanda during the war there... Something like that. No more presidents or ex presidents or influential famous people... please, unless they truly are deserving because of an immense personal gamble they took for a genuine peace.
I agree Thranduil, I think the prize should go to those who put so much at risk, not powerful men with an eye on their own biogs.
A man like Emin Spahia, a blood feud meidator in northern Albania an absolute gent, himself murdered in 2004.
Now that was a man who in the pursuit of peace died.
Paddy Power quoting Ahern at 66/1 for the prize - same odds for Blair.
I would love to see Bertie win, if for no other reason to watch the ABA P.ie posters bust a blood vessel
Anything But Ahern?
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

Bertie has NO chance of winning this. Nor for that matter has Blair.
So ye can all calm down and go back to worrying about if we'll have an economy by tomorrow lunchtime.
