    Where is Bertie?

Throughout August and September, Bertie Ahern shamelessly flogged himself to every TV, Radio and newspaper and PR oppurtunity. You couldn't miss him, he was everywhere.
He lectured us on how he would have done it differently.
He told Cowen to "knuckle down".
He took credit for the boom.
He presented TV shows and judged Bogman of the Year contests.
He got his daughter and others to plug his Aras bid.

Where is he now with the country on the edge of the abyss?

    Nowhere to be seen.
Who should be surprised at this disappearing act?
    No one!

    The man is a disgrace.

Does anybody care really? The less that muppet is in the media, the better. I Only wish he would resign his seat as well, and let somebody who actually wants to work as a TD have it, the man hasn't done a stitch of work since he resigned.

If he had retired from politics I'd agree with you and similarly be delighted at his disappearance from public life.
But everyone knows this isn't the case.
He wants the highest office in the land.

If and when this turmoil subsides, the oppurtunistic sneak will be back hawking himself in a fashion that would shame even the Seoige sisters.

He's also a member of Dail Eireann. Now Dail is in session he should (as should all TD's) be present each day.

If he can't be ar5ed then he should resign his seat.

Oh, that would cause a by-election...

Watching the programme last night on the start of the Troubles and recognising the emergence of Ireland's greatest politician of the last 50 years, John Hume, prompted me to ponder how different our politicans are North & South.

No great riches or cosy company directorships for unflinchingly corrageous Hume or Seamus Mallon who have slipped with dignity and modestly into retiremnet having genuinely done the country some service.

It contrasts mightily with what FF has foisted upon us in recent times - the Crooked Squire in his Kinsealy mansion, Bankroller Burke, Lawlor & the Dunlopites, Foreign-currency Bertie of the Digouts and Dollars, the PeeFlynn Dynasty .............certainly Bertie belongs in this company rather than that of Hume or Mallon.

Perhaps someone told him that all his bad mouthing of Brian Cowen was, one, being disloyal to Fianna Fáil, and two, "un-Presidential-like" behaviour.
"I put down the welter of corruption in Irish politics to Burke's escape from retribution after that exposure in 1974. It gave everybody in the game a licence to steal."

Where was James Bannon during the first week of the Dail, when his party refused to pair with ministers?
Answer: No one cares (bar the FG whip), he is a backbench TD.
    End of story.
(I find the obession of some on this website with Bertie Ahern baffling. He is a has-been. Fianna Fail and the body politic (including shock horror the Sindo) has moved on - why can't some of the posters here).

He's still touting himself as possible President of this country, or representative abroad of some type. I, for one, would be embarrassed and ashamed for this conman and coward to hold any such office, so the lads are right to do a number on him...

He's hunting down the lulus who were stalking him in the bushes.
