CPSU Executive reject pay deal: Times

Oh dear oh dear. The government and Brussells favourite Trade Unionist, Blair Horan, has lost a vote of the CPSU National Executive who voted by 9 votes to 8 to reject the National pay deal. The Union's 13000 members are majorly female Clerical Officers in the Civil and Public Service, not known as a hotbed of militantism. Blair Horan is a prominent member of the Irish European Movement and was very much to the forefront in the Referendum bringing the CPSU along with him in endorsing Lisbon. In fact it was CPSU trade union members who fronted a Yes to Lisbon spot on the RTE News during the referendum campaign.

However it now seems that the CPSU Executive are feeling somewhat let down by the government in the pay deal after the prominent role they played in attempting to get other Trade Unionists behind Lisbon. This does not bode at all well for a Lisbon 2 if their is a distinct shift of mood in the CPSU with such a prominent Yes man in Blair Horan knobbled by this vote.

It does not bode well at all.

Very weird post, even by your standards. CPSU are generally considered a radical enough union, an dregularly have trots on the exec. Far from being typically in Horan's pocket they often go against him in votes (as a quick google will confirm for you)

The Executive Committee of the CPSU has voted 15-1 against entering the next round of national wage agreement talks.

The Executive rejected general secretary Blair Horan's recommendation to enter talks. Instead the Committee listened to the activists and members who are saying clearly that partnership is not working
The vote in this case (recomending 9-8 for a rejection of the pay deal) is because it's a crap deal for the low paid workers they represent, and nothing to do with Lisbon.

    Not on planet earth anyway
