Sinn Fein-who else is out there?

Gerry Adams MP today claimed that the head of the ARA was politically motivated, anti-Republican and anti- 'the process'. My question to SFers on this site is, who else is anti-Repulican amongst the government and Civil Service? Is there a list of all those who are "politically motivated, anti-Republican and anti- 'the process'" ? And if SF were to enter government, could we expect a McCarthy like witch-hunt against such people?

How could a recovery of IRA assets be "politically motivated"? I didnt realise the IRA were a political organisation.
And, according to Gerry, there is no link between the IRA and SF. So whats he getting excited about? What difference on earth does it make to him what happens to IRA assets acquired through IRA fundraising?

because they think the raids were specifically timed to embarass SF the day it visited 10 Downing Street, and re-portray the IRA as a criminal organisation, to undo the positive PR it got from destroying its weapons a week ago.

Because Sinn Fein's political opponents try very hand to portray the IRA's criminal acts as being the responsibility of Sinn Fein.

It doesn't matter what time it was, SF would have said it was 'at this crucial time in the process', 'aimed to derail a possible breakthrough', 'timed to coincide', 'only a week after a crucial act by the IRA' etc.

Yeah I know. It was a little private in-joke between myself and I about the way Gerry claims there is no link between SF and the IRA. Not a very funny joke I hasten to add, but Im easily amused.

Well the leadership of Sinn Fein and the IRA could be identical, and they'd still be different organisations. Sinn Fein isn't responsible for killing Robert McCartney, for example. If Gerry Adams was on the IRA AC, then he might be responsible in his capacity as IRA leader, but the political party Sinn Fein would still be in no way responsible.

Actually I think the funny bit is that the CAB have been chasing the provo's for years and haven't found anything despite most people knowing they own approx 200 pubs and 10 hotels nationwide. Thomas the slab murphy's name doesn't appear on any of the deeds of the houses in the UK so it's going to be pretty hard to get him on anything arising from this.

I also find it funny that the Minister for Justice can tell us the IRA have been smuggling fags etc at Dublin port yet there has been no arrests never mind convinctions.

I also find it funny that £26 million can be stolen without one arrest or any significant ammounts of money been recovered.

Lastly and imo the funniest part, our good old Minister can tell us who is/was on the IRA army council leading the IRA without them been arrested while low ranking members are brought through the Special Criminal Court for membership.

Funny old world we live in isn't it?

I agree Tulach....it just goes to prove that some people will do anything to try and blacken SF.
