Maith déanta to Tarawatch. The Greens have totally disgraced themselves. Its amazing how easy it was to corrupt and buy them.

you are a new poster who has only posted on this issue, and the initial post was like a press release.

your posts referring to Tarawatch in the third person sound to me like the way Gerry Adams used to talk about the IRA.

and no it doesn't really matter, I'm just curious.

I do think it is daft for an environmental group to campaign against carbon taxes though. the fact that they target the Green party rather than the other government parties leads me to suspect that Tarawatch is just anti-Green party.

Dont be idiotic. Tarawatch is not a party. Its sole concern is the Destruction of Tara. A criminal act of the foulest sort lead by the Dempsey family and aided and abetted by the Green Party.

i would have thought so, but from the original post it would seem they were outside Green Party HQ protesting against carbon taxes.

I imagine the carbon tax element of the protest was in regard to the Greens helping to make toll roads like the M3 more profitable.

Well, sorry to disappoint you. Another recent protest was linked to on the Facebook cause, which took place outside the Department of Finance, so your ant-Green theory appears to be way off.

I understand your reaction to the idea of an environmental group opposing carbon taxes, at first glance. I think the issue TW are raising is that it is absurd for the Greens to prioritize carbon taxes over cutting spending of billions on mechanisms that will simply produce more carbon, and more penalties...in light of the massive loss in Government revenue this year and probably for years to come. The NDP was based on over 4% growth, and now we are into minus 2.5 from what I gather. There are going to be changes to Transport 21 and the NDP. The issue is where. Carbon taxes are tangential to the real problem.

I think they look like Green Party members, enjoying their new ill-gotten riches
These riches you speak of, where can i get my allotment? Can you give further details of their fabulousness? To date I've not received a penny, and I'm not happy.

Hmmm... I don't blame you. Let's start with the Ministerial positions, Senate seats for county councillors, and untold number of consultants and advisors, like Healy and O Bhrolchain that are being paid for with taxpayers money, rather than Green Party funds.

Is it not always surprising how base people assume everyone in government is? The idea that John Gormley, a decent man, is in politics to make money or be driven about is just plain dumb. If anything, it tends to reflect badly on the accuser, in that it seems to reveal what they themselves would regard as their price for selling out. Anyone now still impressed by a Merc would want to be pretty simple.

Fact is, government is about compromise, and I'd rather have Gormley in there rather than another FF minister who are ideologically risk-averse. Let's be honest, 20 years from now, there's a far better chance they'll be talking about John Gormley than they will a gang of us shooting the breeze of Politics.ie

Theres compromise and there's throwing most of your core policies out the window as soon as Fianna Fail wave the keys to a Prius in front of you.
Whats the point of Gormley being in there when the Green programme for Government has been thoroughly gutted.
The Greens won't be implementing anything 'risky' in government, Bertie made sure of that back in June '07.
