Well the US could hardly be considered "Capitalist" anyways. It has an enormous welfare state and state interference in the market is not just tolerated it is a requirement but it still isn't actually a socialist country. I'd call it Socio-Capitalist in that when it gives welfare to corporations that "capitalism" but when it hands out welfare to the poor that's "Socialism".

China is socialist in name only. They don't even have free primary education, while the US does. They don't have free healthcare or basic worker protections. China is probably the most capitalistic country on the planet.
The 1989 protests were largely against the scrapping of these social protections, democracy was a side issue.
"Who will bailout the IMF after FF is finished with them?"
The guy is right but not in the way he thinks.
China is not a Capitalist country, it is a feudal country which practices limited capitalism.
America is a capitalist country with a social conscience. For exmaple America spends a higher % of its GDP on healthcare than Britain, which is suopposed to be the model of such systems.
According To Marx capitalism comes after feudalism, so America is closer to the ideal Marxist society than China is, and that is a good thing.

Well the US Treasury has absorbed $5 Trillion worth of Fannie and Freddie debt in a global market of $54 trillion.
Want to know a secret? The treasury doesn't have the money to back it. Economic Chaos to ensue. Buy your gold now.
Cowardice asks the question - is it safe? Expediency asks the question - is it politic?
Vanity asks the question - is it popular? But Conscience asks the question - is it right?
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular;but one must take it simply because it is right. -MLK
Surely if economic chaos is to ensue it's better to buy arable land. You can't eat gold. Unless the intentions are, that your Grandchildren benefit I don't see the logic in the Gold industry. Surely they too will have their boom and bust moments.Originally Posted by Destiny's Soldier

No, gold keeps its worth no matter how bad hyperinflation gets. The people who survive depressions are the ones who buy gold.Originally Posted by Bogwarrior

When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators
Possibly because they would love to see it left-ified even more. Also because the States aren't as 'socialist' as Europe.Originally Posted by lowtaxireland
