    Live Register for august

The live register for august will be out on wednesday , im predicting a rise of 40,000 this month, as the slowdown has got a lot more serious. Howerever i think the live register for august will really be about 2 months behind as it is now taking 6-8 weeks to process claims, and until your claim is granted you will not appear on the live register. So bascially the number of people on the live register in august is really a indication of the amount of people out of work in late may early june. I have also read over on boards.ie that in some welfare offices there is a 5 to 6 month month backlog of claims http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthre ... 2055364433

    Hi all,

I have been told that in some social welfare offices there is up to a six month backlog for new dole claims. Does anyone know if this is true?
    It seems unbelievable?

I'm sure there are conditions attached to that, like if you've just moved to the country or if you've never paid PRSI. As far as I know, if you're working in Ireland and you lose your job, you can claim as soon as you've provided sufficient evidence that you've been looking for new work and they backdate your claim to when you stopped working.

Nope, i was just told that i was intitled to it, no problems. I gave her all the details and everything was in order, enough stamps etc.

Its just that they were so busy in the social welfare office that it would take them 6 months to process it.

Back paid in 5 - 6 months alright, but its just lucky i have savings.

Adverts | Friends It is very rare for any claim to take 6 months to process. Thay are taking a while but only 4 weeks for Jb and 6 weeks for Ja on average at the moment.

I hope your right, but she insisted that it would be 4 - 6 months. I asked her how someone would survive if they had a mortgage and and family to feed.

She suggested going to the health board or St VdeP.

    I was quite shocked.

What time is the mail boat leaving for England?

My husband was made redundant the end of June and is still waiting for Jobseekers Benefit to be paid despite all the paperwork being in order and a claikm made on June 23rd, this is for Navan Co Meath and was told end of July they were only just processing claims for March

If it is that much, Cowen might as well go into hiding No wonder he has been keeping the head down. I would say 10-15,000 maybe!

    Re: Live Register for august

well the reason im going for 40,000 is beacuse of a number of factors.
julys live register was taken a week before the end of july, as it came out on the 30th of july, on a wednesday i believe so must of taken the figures from the previous friday so that is only 3 weeks of july, and that figure was near 18,000 for 3 weeks so thats 6,00 per week, so this month there will be four weeks plus one from july, which if there is still 6,00 per week x 5 weeks =30,000 plus also the start to middle of july was the builders holidays so that will add a few thousand of laid off workers plus im hearing lots more in the last month have lost there jobs than i have heard before so add a few more thousand because the econnmy is gone further down hill.
I hope im wrong as its terrible for someone to loose there job, but im just predicting what i beleive will come out on wedneday and im predictiong a extra 40,000 or more.
