Crackdown on lone parent allowance fraud

I heard on RTÉ radio news tonight that the Fianna Fáil Gombeens have targeted mothers recieving money on the single parent scheme. It seem they are claiming saving of 80 million euro. Isn't so typical of the Gombeens in Fainna Fáil to attack the most vulnerable in society - while they refuse to close a tax loophole whereby building developers are costing the taxpayer hundreds of millions. Of course, single mothers are not so good for the ould dig-out or whip-a-round as the builders are. The recent cut backs announced were all directed against the poorest and weakest members of society - including third world aid. Can Fianna Fail sink any lower? Sadly, when it comes to these Gombeens, the answers is always yes.

Title edited to reflect content of thread.

Re: FF Gombeens attack Single Mothers - again

Why should taxpayers subsidise people's lifestyle choices?

If you want to have a child then do so, but don't expect the state to support it.

Single mothers have been cosseted by the state for far too long. Two parent families, often on low incomes, pay tax to subsidise single mothers.

Getting rid of single parent benefits will lead to greater personal responsibility.

You are paying tax to give over €200,000 a year in dole to millionaire farmers. How come FF dosnt target them? Does that bother you?

What are they planning to do? Are they reducing the benefits to single mothers or trying to eliminate fraudulent claims?

I didn't hear the news item.

According to them they have been spying on single parent families and their "investigations" have lead to some mothers loosing their benefits.

Yes, the subsidies given to farmers do bother me, just as the subsidies given to single parents bother me.

However, the subsidies given to farmers haven't been increasing the number of farmers, whereas the subsidies given to single mothers have been increasing the number of single mothers.

Let me be very clear - every child has two parents - let the parents pay not the state. If the father is some feckless git who won't pay then more fool the mother for having a child with him in the first place.

People need to take some personal responsibility and stop bleating for hand-outs all the time (and yes, that goes for the farmers as well).

The original title of this thread is:

FF Gombeens attack Single Mother's - again

The new title sides with the FF Gombeens against the mothers. Naturally, I would never write such a title.

And every farm in Ireland has an owner. Why should you be paying tax to hand over between €200,000 and €300,000 a year in dole to a merc driving dole man who has nothing to do with the money except buy more land in Germany and England? Why are you giving some feckless git €300,000 a year?

As for the word "fraud" in the title, that word is better palced with Fianna Fraud - the Cute Hoor's Party.
