That's a very balanced answer, FatCat.
"Elite - a small superior group; esp one that has a power out of proportion to its size." (Oxford English Dictionary)

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.

Now those arguements clearly have no credibility (not that they ever did in my view) new excuses such as anti-terrorism, anti-climate change, anti-economic collape etc. have to be brought forward to give the political elite in brussels a higher mandate than democracy.

Well at least we know what you stand for. Basically a Europe of bi-lateral trade agreements with the big boys Germany, France, Russia and the UK running the show. It'll be like old times.

The dole is now costing half billion how many people could we support in Ireland, with the fishing out of our Atlantic waters? We used to have a 300 mile limited, and we gave it to the EU now we have a 3 mile limit, in the Atlantic! also we have given away our natural resources (by corrupt politicians) yes we could be one of the richest countries in Europe if we get out now, and have co operation with the US and Europe, and become like the old Hong Kong was, before China took it Back (and it is still Working) our Natural resources Oil, Gas. Fishing, now Gold, and Trading, as we speak English.

So far its been the middle classes that have benefited most from EU membership, whilst the working classes and rural types who have gotten a rougher deal. If the economic downturn persists long enough I think we could see a fair portion of the middle class turning against the EU all together though.
