Is David Begg going to sue O'Leary?

Just listened to Saturday View. David Begg was on the panel and made reference to an attack on him by Michael O'Leary during an interview on radio during the week (The Last Word).
Apparently O'Leary accused Begg of pocketing 75K per annum as an Aer Lingus Director, and 'having his snout in the trough'.
Begg was given time on the Saturday View Show to refute O'Learys accusations. He pointed out that the salary for a Director is not 75K but 45K, and that all monies earned through such appointments must be handed over to the Trade Union.

Begg said O'Learys comments had been intended to 'personally damage' him. His phraseology sounded ominous.

I think David Begg may be about to sue MOL for libel (or is it slander).

Just another lawsuit to add to the O'Leary list.
He sure keeps his legal department busy - although they seem to lose most of the time!

What tosh! I'd like to see him try sue! I'd even be more amazed to see him win!

Infact, he#'s only helped fuel more advertising/air-time for Ryanair! Well done!

Funny enough, I'd also like to see him sue.
Seems he has a good case. O'Leary made patently incorrect personal statements attacking Begg, and directed libellous insults at him.

Seems like a clear cut case to me!

O'Leary has apologized already so surely that is the end of the matter.

Begg is a sham IMO anyway - at least MOL wears his feelings on his sleeve whether you like them or not.

Ryanair is the only large Irish firm that people around Europe will have heard of - and pretty much everyone has a Ryanair horror stroy - can't imagine people have a very opinion of how Irish people do business.

I think people like O'Leary have had their day - all this hard man guff he comes out with is entertaining up to a point. You also have to build a business relationship with people and when people have a choice they'll always pick anyone other than Ryanair. It's a last resort choice. Like if you have the money you'll shop in M&S but if you really have to do you'd go to Ildl but only as you don't have the choice.

It's debateable how much his cost cutting impacted on Ryanair - I'm sure an airline like that wouldh ave been successful anyway given that it was lucky to be set up when it was and I can't imagine not having pens or paper in the office made that much difference but you have to wonder at the sort of person who willingly chooses to work there - especially senior management people - what sort of people are they to choose to work in that environment - it must be like ending up working in a firm that employs every office bitch and bastard from other firms. Shudder.

Did he apologise? Begg made no mention of any apology. Where did you read that?

As to 'wearing your feelings on your sleeve' - that's called Libel these days, and is a costly affectation. Not to mention stupid.

Righto. Seems a bit 'back handed' though, when the little bit at the end is considered. He didn't mention that Begg doesn't get a penny of it.

I guess its up to Begg now to decide if he's satisfied with that.

Meanwhile O'Leary is being sued for libel by the head of the Irish Airline Pilots Association.

He's good for a few bob, he can well afford his big mouth I suppose......

Re: Is David Begg going to sue O'Leary?

David Begg may not get 75k but he does receive 45k for being a Director of Aer Lingus....I think it's said to be one and half times the average industrial wage.....and whether he gives it to the Trade Union or not, he is still in receipt of the admitted 45k.

How many people earn 45k ????????......for part-time work

O leary would love him to sue,and have good laugh.
A champion of the people emerges with the age-old and appealing promise of "something for nothing" - to be financed through every-increasing taxes. Supply and demand are thrown out of gear - the overhead goes up; the effective use of human energy goes down; the standard of living is lowered because money cannot buy wealth that is not produced.

    WEAVER, HENRY GRADY,
