AFAIK any graduate from any faculty at any level whether undergrad or postgrad is permitted to vote once you are a citizen of Ireland and over 18. This is the case for the NUI elections, I presume TCD is a similar set up. You need to apply and be registered after you graduate however in order to secure your vote.

As a graduate of UL, I have no vote, but am reliably informed that this is due to change soon. Not that I would vote in an election to that insignificant talking shop.

If you are a grad and you live over seas are you still permitted to vote? Since voting is by postal ballot it shouldnt be a problem, should it?

I have read the above blurb. Seems to me you have to be a citizen and have a degree. Could be wrong. Hem....a primary degree from the NUI or Trinity would seem to suffice. Thing is: suppose you were a non national did a BA or BSC or BCL in Botswana or somewhere and then achieved ( ahem..) a postgraduate qualification in something or other in an NUI college or Trinity. Would you really care??, about the Irish Senate I mean?Originally Posted by liamfoley
ah DOD, I was counting on ya! If you are an Irish citizen and have a level seven qualification from the named institutions you can vote even if you now reside overseas. If you are not an Irish citizen, you can not vote.Originally Posted by DOD
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

The method of election of the upper house is completely undemocratic.
One person one vote
The notion that special interest groups should form the electorate in today's Ireland is bizarre.
Fianna Fail will allow the Irish People, to me milked like Milch Cows, by the CIF through high house prices, rents, and land prices, at the expense of competitiveness, and quality of life. FF+CIF=1
It seems to braek equality laws on every level. You have to have a degree, maybe only from certain university as well as citizen.
Time for the Irish Goverment to do the honorable thing and go. If thay have any honour left.
It's even worse. Some of them are nominated as a joke.
