Is there a difference between Civil servant and a doler

To me there is no difference as both are non-productive, only difference is the civil servant gets paid 5 times more per week, than the poor person on the dole.
The disadvantage is the civil servant signs on 5 times aweek and the doler once.
Too much Civil Service work consists of circulating information that isn't relevant about subjects that don't matter to people who aren't interested."

Dolers at least don't have any right to interfere in our lives.

Civil Service is just a make-work-scheme to soak up the lunatics who otherwise would otherwise engage in a commie revolution.

I suppose paying off civil service types is a reasonable compromise to avoid a totalitarian communist state.

Waging battle against them would be most tiresome, easier for us in the productive sector to work twice as hard to support them.

Milano, welcome to P.ie, and, bless, did you tie your own shoe-laces today? There is fat in the C-S, there is "fat" in all organisations, but without it lots of nice things just would not work. have a look at the IPA yearbook, or even go onto some govt website and you'll see the wonderful things that the C-S do.

They are not perfect, but without them we would not have a functioning society.

Civil Service - dole for the middle classes.
I passed the council lorry that collects the bins this morning - one driver, one sitting behind him and two wheeling the bins
onto the lifter all decked out in their yellow jackets - brand new lorry -110 euro bi-monthly for disposing of 8 bins

What happens when the outsourcing companies who take over the running of the country pull out because their profit margins aren't sufficient for their shareholders? The country will be in the fantastic position of having no trained staff to keep it ticking along...

Much like when any state service is privatised. In the short term you'll be up on the deal, but long term yer f€ck€d...

Having worked in the private sector, public sector and freelance - there's chunk of wasters across the board...
