Mark Thatcher could face extraordinary rendition

An article in today's Sunday Times says that Mark Thatcher could face extraordinary rendition to Equatorial Guinea for his alleged role in a failed coup. His former friend, Simon Mann, whom he abandoned, is already in Guinea, where he faces torture or possible execution.

The foot soldiers of the plot, mostly black veterans of the elite ex SADF buffalo batallion, were also abandoned.

The "rendition" would be carried out by mercenaries on behalf of the Equatorial Guinea dictator, who believes that he is entitled to follow the example of the US in ignoring legal niceties when it comes to extradition.

It would be a supreme irony if Mrs Thatcher's beloved son were to end up in a hellhole African jail.

But I thought that 'extraordinary rendition' was meant to be a bad thing?

Indeed, what a wonderful example the leaders of the free world have set for us.

Both extraordinary rendition and waterboarding could be carried out by the Equatorial Guineans and the west could hardly complain.
