Five social housing regeneration projects around Dublin city are to be scrapped.Including a €265m regeneration project at St Michael's Estate in Inchicore that had been planned for seven years with a lot of local input.
Dublin City Council says that a developer in a "public private partnership" had pulled out of the deal.
The construction firm, Michael McNamara and Company, blamed changes to building regulations, and the dip in the market, had made the projects unviable.![]()
It is a blow to the most vulnerable in Dublin society.
I hold no complaint against the developer as he is in it to make a profit but what idiot in DCC organised a tender that has resulted in this fiasco?
Is there any accountibility in the public service? Heads should roll, it's not as if DCC hasn't blundered before, never mind what the tribunals have revealed.
But as this fiasco shows they are incapable of being professional and organising a binding public private partnership deal.
How much tax payers money has gone down the tubes?
Apart from increasing traffic congestion with joke traffic engineering and lousy planning there is little positive that has come out of DCC.
The DCC city manager should resign in shame
What do you think?
