Would Sinn Fein abandon Socialism for 32 county Ireland

Just a thought, would SF give up Socialism for a 32 county Republic (even if it were run by the Right and Centre right parties)

Any thoughts... really the question is do they value Socialism over Republicanism

Does anyone know if there are any centre right people in SF...??

Would SF be more popular if they abandoned it?

Personal view - No, socialist values---helping the least well off---are at the core of Sinn Féin's politics.

Republicanism can mean many things. To the Sinn Fein leadership it means international socialism. So the question might be do they put their brand of republicanism/international socialism above nationalism/patriotism?

I think the idea is that in a free united Ireland the people would get to decide what method of government they wanted for themselves. I think (and I don't have a copy to hand so I can't check) it says as much in the party constitution.

Democracy and all that. It's a crap system but nobody can think of a better one, as somebody said.

Sinn Fein had no problem abandoning socialism when talking to the conservative
(US) Republicans who were in NORAID.

Hmm lets see , yes , Sinn fein would have no problem abandoning socialism as they have done and are still doing in the north . Their attacks on the classroom assistants and their furthering support of Water charges even though they campaigned before the election saying they wouldn't try and bring them in .

Didn't they approve a motion from the leadership to drop Socialist references at their last Ard Fheis?
