Irish Times version:
He raised the loudest cheers during his speeches when he consistently pushed home his anti-drug crime message.

Youtube version (Seeing is believeing) :

We've seen more dignified behaviour after Manu matches. This is coarse.

Only time will tell if Cowen is a clown or the perfect ringmaster.

Why does that article imply he's a clown?

Which bit are you objecting to? Could you be more specific?

The bit where he says?:

"do not listen to those who would spread prejudice or fear or intolerance in the country"

or the bit where he says?:

"We need to take on criminals with the pernicious drug culture who are trying to destroy our youth"

or the bit where he says?:

"People should not be taken in by "common good" arguments which were really about "entrenched" interests."

I'd day the only people who would find fault with his speeech are (a) racists (b) drug-pushers and drug-takers (c) some feather-bedded public sector unions.

The rest of the public will heartily endorse what he says, which may explain his stupendous poll ratings.

Your taking the Piss
He makes people laugh,If he wants to talk of criminals and drugs may he go to a suitable relevant part of any city in Ireland and do so and if he wishes to sing like a twit may he climb a tree in north Dublin

We already know he's as sharp as a pin and yesterday showed the man has more personality, confidence and charisma in his little finger than most of the other politicians in this country have in their whole bodies.

Fair play to him for being a human being. There was a lot of honesty of character on show there yesterday. When he could have acted the dignified stuffed shirt he looked like a real person. Watch the Late Late on a Friday and you'll see plenty of people just like him wanting to sing "hello to Mary and Biddy"

Yes - could you answer the question please? If you are going to post a thread then back it up. That link is to an article which reports Cowen talking about his views on patriotism, public service, immigration, crime & drugs. The message was delivered in the context of his "homecoming" - which is very much parish pump stuff which I'm not mad about myself but is a fundamental part of politics in this country.

Point being though - there is nothing in any of this that backs up the "Clown" reference so back it up or change the title
