Eddie Hobbs - Left or Right

I am looking for people's views on whether Hobbs is on the political left or right.

Up to the last programme I was uncertain but his attacks on indirect taxation - a combination of Big Business and vested interests ripping us off - combinded with his attack on abuse of immigrant workers leads me to believe he is on the left.

    Any views?

I always got the feeling he's one of those weirdos who favours a total user-pay system.

I didn't see tonight's programme, but he's clearly on the right, as it's commonly understood. Yes, he opposes indirect taxation but he doesn't support its replacement with an increase in direct taxation, which would indicate that he's pretty opposed to taxation whatever form it takes.

Up to the last episode I would have agreed but his focus on pensions, the middle class being ripped off, our two-tier health service etc now lead me to believe differently. Maybe we will never know - unless he runs for office some time

He touched on a lot of left-wing sentiment tonight, which seemed to be of little interest to the audience. It was like "Yeah, Yeah, Eddie, the poor, the health service etc etc tell us about the price of electric corkscrews etc etc"

He said on the Ryan Tubridy show early this morning that if he was going to join a political party, he;d "go where the rot is", what ever that means.

His interview the Tubridy Show was a far better education than anything on ROR. I reckon he's going to be fried on the Late Late Show next week, although I'm not sure who they have lined up to debate him.
The only way to change the world is to win elections.

I am not quite so sure. He was at pains to point out tonight that the ordinary Joe Soap is being ripped of while the rich and super-rich are creaming it. The concern he expressed for the poor and immigrant workers is not in line with right wing thinking. His view that we are going down the American road of 'every man for himself' and 'greed' being at the heart of our problems is certainly not in tune with the leaders of the right - the PD's.

I'd say he is a Christian Democrat.
