    SBP/Red C poll this weekend

    Am I correct in thinking there's a SBP/Red C Poll this weekend? Any results/predictions?

I'm not into predicting poll results here, but I'd expect FF to still be in the low 40s, on the back of all the positive media coverage of Ahern's resignation and Cowen's appointment. In that sense, normal politics has been drowned out, and things won't really resume till September, after the Lisbon Referendum and the summer break.

    FF +3 38; FG 29 -1; LAB -1 10; GP NC 8; SF -2 7; PD +1 2; OTH -1 6.
The figures are the change from March rather than poll after Bertie resigned.

how long before Factual comes on and posts his standard mantra about these numbers showing steady progress for SF?

Sorry - don't understand. When was the poll taken?

Those are excellent figures. Shows the shallowness of the "Cowen Bounce", with FF again settling back to an upper-30s trend figure, and FG remaining solidly above their election result. Disappointing to drop below 30, but with no normal politics really going on at the moment amongst all the Ahern tributes, hardly unexpected to see FF going up a bit.

RedC do a poll for the SBP in the last week of every month, and these are then used to create 3-month rolling trand figures. But in the week of Ahern's resignation, they rushed out a 500-person poll, which isn't comparable with the regular 1,000 person polls - and anyway, taken as it was at the height of the Ahern media blitz, was never gonna be representative of an election scenario anyway.

And presumably Darren Mac an Phriora will be along soon to tell us that Enda Kenny should resign and be replaced by Ciaran Cannon.
