'Dirty Money' on TV3: border-based money laundering

Anyone see this last night? It was about IRA sanctioned money laundering operations along the border used by northern criminals to clean money from fuel/fags/alcohol smuggling, as well as by Dublin based organised crime gangs.

The sums of money were pretty mind boggling - 250 million in a few years in a pokey Bureau de Change, and 300+ million in another set up - and there were interesting bits on Thomas 'Slab' Murphy, and the CAB case against him, as well as some very awkward questions raised for Sinn Fein in General, and Adams in particular.

I think it's repeated tonight, if anyone's interested.

TV3 must be seriously desperate for ratings to give that clown Paul Williams his own show. Dear God, it was like a Simpsons piss take of FOX News with the sinister music and Paul's sullen face while interviewing an ex-RUC man. He said absolutely nothing new, just the same ************************e he's being saying for years.

Head, sand & Ostrich spring to mind but not in that order.

Do you really think CAB would have arrested Murphy without sufficient evidence given his high profile and being a personal friend of Adams?
One of the moderators on here really wrecks my head with his/her power mad ego

To be fair to Williams there were other people in the show too - Alan Dukes, Ruairi Quinn, Pat Byrne - so it wasn't just him banging on. To reduce the content to him looking sullen with an ex-RUC man, seems a bit pointed...

What did Dukes say that added any weight to the programme?

    Nada!

As was said before, and should be said again. By far and away, the biggest beneficiaries of illegal diesel and petrol smuggling is the Irish Exchequer, who recieve duty at source when fuel is loaded into tankers in Dublin Port.

Why aren't CAB investigating the Department of Finance ?
