This says more about local press than anything else.

Headline: House prices in a Carlow estate down by €65,000
Body: HOUSE prices in one of Carlow’s most sought-after estates have been dramatically slashed by almost €70,000.

With pointed accuracy like that, clearly this is the correct basis to judge a €40bn national enonomy.
We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns — the ones we don't know we don't know.

Acting on behalf of developer Seán McLoughlin, Mr McDermott added that he does not believe this price cut indicates a downward spiral in the housing sector.
No, no, how could it? After all, 'downward spiral' is two different words from 'price cuts'...they must be different things, right?

    Whats going on in Carlow,

totally at odds with Ard taoiseachs post yesterday

"I've been reading the property supplements recently and the amount of auctions achieving prices above AMV are stacking up. Two properties in Carlow sold for €305,000 and €325,000. Their AMVs were €200,000 and €300,000 respectively".

Isn't there a vote by coucillors soon on rezoning of a huge parkland that the public use for recreation, that some truck haulage company owner has bought up. there was an article in the IT a few days ago, but cannot find it now. But apparently from what i remember 5,000 people had signed petitions against it.

    €40bn?

You wouldn't want to take much notice of what aul Ard says late at night, he is usually well on the funny stuff at that hour.

True KN, but one house asking for 200k and selling for 305K and down the road they are cutting them by 70k is a strange one. I can hope he meant 205k, unless he is a Carlow estate agent himself....

you mean like 'most sought after' etc. I think there is a training they do for effective advertising, so they can change reality like 'the size of a dogs kennel' into things like 'bijou' etc
