I thought the IRA told us they had "finished" its activities. Clearly not. More like finished until they got caught again. How surprising...

They were arrested in 2005 for something that happened in 2004.

I should hope that SF will call for them to be prosecuted and sentaced if their involved in such activity.

After all their hypocrisy down through the years it'd be a shame to have to add them calling for the taoiseach to be prosecuted for laundering and then to ignore their own.

Not that I would expect any such morals from SF anyway.

What strange responses from the usual sources.

Anyone who has even bothered to give threads regarding this issue even a cursory glance over the past 3 years, will have seen SF supporters consistently calling for prosecutions in this case, if there was evidence enough to sustain a conviction or the possibility of a conviction.

SF have had to listen to this whole NB/Money laundering nonsense for years, without ever a charge in the case.

I'm quite happy now that there is some movement, and feel that justice should be left run its course.

Thats not quite how you phrased it in those threads RoC. You presented it in a put up or shut up manner, charge someone or get off SF's case. Well the State have decided to put up RoC. I am sure the time involved was used to gather all possible evidence for the book of evidence prior to charging. Slowly slowly catchy monkey RoC.

    Ha!

SF spin was that it was MI5 who did it to damage SF's image (if that is possible!).

You yourself doubt that a robbery even took place.

Like I said, it should be interesting.

Exactly.. put up or shut up

They've now put up, so I'm happy

What surprises me, is that despite consistently calling for the State to put up or shut up, when they finally did, 4 or the first 5 posts on the thread were suggesting that SF would be opposed to any prosecutions in the case.

    SF members aren't.

The nature of the charges and their circumstances have yet to be detailed though the 'IRA money laundering' headline will have to be backed up.
At the time people like Phil Flynn etc were arrested and investigated (SF connection) although this has subsequently been seen as part of a nastier agenda emanating from a previous Justice Minister and his paid hacks.

As it is, after a near on 3 year investigation, a man at the centre of a small lending firm is charged. Almost 3 years after the Gardai promised to link the money found to the Northern Bank (within weeks) no such link has ever been provided.
Slowly, slowly catchy monkey indeed, by the look of things they couldn't catch a gorilla in a superman suit walking up O'Connell St.
