Put that wealth tax up to 5%. The rich have been getting off light throughout the bad times, they need to pull on the green jumper.

100k is not wealthy in Dublin if you are paying your own way and have a few kids. And taxpayers have bankrolled a huge leisure class of unemployables. Many of whom are well housed at our expense.

Housing tax should be based on value square footage x BER level.

I fail to see the 13% increase in the rural area where I live. The same houses are for sale near me as when the LPT arrived and the asking price has dropped, so whats with an increase.

Yeah, it is a bit petty. Also, not fully thought through.
I would have thought that it would be attacking the smaller landlords the least though, what with the rate increasing for each additional house. Coupled with some kind of use-it-or-lose-it law for empty properties (at least in cities) it would help free up some property where it is needed.

As I understand it we are approaching statistial full employment. We had this before around 07 & 08, the wealthy didnt pay their fair share then either.

Unfortunately the property tax is not being applied to take the heat out of the rise in property prices.

ireland always crucifies those who try to work and pay their taxes.

meanwhile it is overly generous to undeserving knackers.

Rents are going up 12% every year despite 4% rent limit and nothing done.
These increases are costing people thousands a year and hitting personal spending.

Yet the wealthiest crying about a few extra hundred euro a year and FG jump into
